Although the public is well aware of the focus on the Soldiers’ National Cemetery and its association to Gettysburg, the older Evergreen Cemetery represents a more comprehensive history of the town itself – its past, present and future.  Beyond the gatehouse lies an encyclopedia of people who built Gettysburg, defended it throughout the battle and continue to expand its legacy into the twenty-first century.  Written by the present caretaker of Evergreen, this is the first documented history of Gettysburg’s “other cemetery.”
